Brad Pitt is stepping back into one of his most memorable roles — and this time, the world of Quentin Tarantino’s Hollywood is expanding with a new ensemble. Pitt returns as stuntman Cliff Booth in The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, the newly titled Netflix film written by Tarantino and directed by David Fincher. Among the new names joining the cast is Filipino-American actor JB Tadena.
Cliff Booth Gets Another Chapter
The movie serves as a standalone follow-up to 2019’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which introduced Pitt’s Cliff Booth as a laid-back but highly capable stuntman navigating 1960s Los Angeles alongside Leonardo DiCaprio’s Rick Dalton.
This time, however, Tarantino has handed the directing chair to David Fincher. Tarantino wrote the screenplay, while Pitt reprises his Oscar-winning role and also serves as a producer. The unusual combination gives the project a distinctive identity: it remains rooted in Tarantino’s fictional Hollywood universe while being shaped by Fincher’s darker filmmaking sensibility.

Where JB Tadena Fits In
JB Tadena’s casting adds another intriguing dimension to the project. Tadena is part of an ensemble that includes Elizabeth Debicki, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Peter Weller and Corey Fogelmanis.
While details about Tadena’s specific character have been kept under wraps, his inclusion signals that this is not simply a nostalgia-driven continuation built around Pitt. The film is assembling a fresh group of characters around Cliff Booth, potentially allowing the story to explore a wider slice of Tarantino’s alternate Hollywood mythology.
Tarantino Writes, Fincher Directs
The biggest creative surprise remains behind the camera. Tarantino originally intended to direct the project himself but ultimately stepped away after deciding he was not sufficiently excited about dramatizing the script. Pitt then approached Fincher, who agreed to direct.
The pairing is particularly notable because Pitt and Fincher already share a celebrated history through Se7en, Fight Club and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Their reunion adds another layer of anticipation to a project that already carries Tarantino’s name.

A New Direction for the Tarantino Universe
Rather than functioning as a conventional sequel, the film reportedly treats Cliff Booth as the central figure in a new standalone adventure. That approach gives Fincher and Tarantino room to revisit the character without simply repeating the structure of the original movie.
Netflix has announced that The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth will receive an exclusive IMAX release on November 25, 2026, followed by its Netflix debut on December 23.
For Brad Pitt, it is a return to a character that helped define one of his most acclaimed performances. For JB Tadena, it is an opportunity to enter a major cinematic universe alongside one of Hollywood’s biggest stars.
And for audiences, the real attraction may be the collision of three distinct creative forces: Tarantino’s screenplay, Fincher’s direction and Pitt’s unmistakable Cliff Booth.
If the film succeeds, it could prove that Tarantino’s fictional Hollywood has room to evolve even when Tarantino himself is no longer sitting in the director’s chair.
