Passing the Torch: Chris Pratt and Levi McConaughey Team Up for the Fall’s Biggest Family Adventure

Chris Pratt and Levi McConaughey are joining forces for a new generation of family adventure. Way of the Warrior Kid brings the Hollywood veteran together with one of the industry’s newest young performers in a story about courage, mentorship and finding confidence under pressure.

The Apple Original Film is based on the bestselling novel by former Navy SEAL Jocko Willink. Directed by McG and written by Will Staples, the movie is scheduled to premiere globally on Apple TV on November 25, 2026.

Chris Pratt Takes on a Different Kind of Hero

Pratt plays Jake, a decorated Navy SEAL who returns home after suffering an injury during a mission. Instead of another galaxy-spanning action spectacle, the actor gets a more personal mission: helping his struggling young nephew build confidence and discover his own strength.

Jake moves in with his sister Sarah, played by Linda Cardellini, and quickly realizes that her son Marc, portrayed by Jude Hill, is having a difficult time at school. Marc is dealing with bullying, academic struggles and the uncertainty that comes with entering a new stage of his life.

Rather than simply teaching Marc how to fight, Jake creates an intensive summer program called “Operation Warrior Kid.” The goal is ultimately about discipline, resilience and self-belief.

Levi McConaughey Steps Into the Spotlight

For Levi McConaughey, the movie represents another important step in an emerging acting career. The son of Oscar-winning actor Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves McConaughey, Levi joins the cast as Kenny.

Skydance confirmed Levi’s casting in 2024, describing the project as a youth-empowerment story. The role follows his screen appearance in The Lost Bus and gives him the opportunity to work alongside established performers such as Pratt and Cardellini.

The casting has naturally generated interest because of Levi’s family connection to Hollywood. However, his involvement in Way of the Warrior Kid represents more than a famous surname: it marks his continued development as a young actor taking on increasingly visible roles.

Jude Hill Is the Story’s Real Center

Although Pratt provides the movie’s biggest star power, Jude Hill is at the heart of the story. His character, Marc, is the child Jake is determined to help.

That dynamic gives the movie its emotional foundation. Instead of presenting strength as simply physical toughness, Way of the Warrior Kid focuses on overcoming insecurity and learning how to handle difficult situations.

Apple describes Jake’s approach as using principles from his military training to help Marc become stronger, more confident and better prepared for high school. The story therefore combines action and adventure with a coming-of-age narrative.

From Jocko Willink’s Book to the Screen

The film is adapted from Willink’s 2017 children’s book, which uses the idea of a “warrior” as a framework for teaching young readers about discipline and personal growth.

That message appears to be central to the movie adaptation. The filmmakers are not simply building another action franchise around a former soldier. Instead, the story uses Jake’s experience as a way to explore mentorship and the challenges faced by young people.

McG Brings Family Adventure to Apple TV

Director McG, known for films including Charlie’s Angels and Terminator Salvation, is bringing his action-film experience to a considerably more family-focused story.

The cast also includes Ava Torres, Darien Sills-Evans, Carl McDowell and Parker Young. Behind the scenes, the project brings together Skydance Media, Apple Original Films and several production companies associated with the project.

Why the Movie Could Stand Out This Fall

Family adventure films often depend on a balance between spectacle and heart, and Way of the Warrior Kid appears designed around both. Pratt provides recognizable action-star appeal, while Hill and McConaughey bring a younger perspective to the story.

There is also a broader appeal in the movie’s central message. Bullying, self-confidence, mentorship and resilience are themes that can connect with both children and parents.

When Can Audiences Watch It?

Apple currently lists November 25, 2026 as the global release date for Way of the Warrior Kid. The film will be available through Apple TV.

For Chris Pratt, it is a chance to play a hero whose biggest victory may not come from defeating an enemy. For Levi McConaughey, it is another opportunity to establish his own identity on screen. Together, they could make Way of the Warrior Kid one of the fall’s most appealing family adventures.
