Comic-Con 2026 is turning the fall convention season into a major celebrity event. Fans are not only coming for exclusive trailers and panels. They are also lining up to meet the actors behind some of television and cinema’s most recognizable characters.
New York Comic Con runs October 8–11 at the Javits Center, marking the event’s 20th anniversary. Its 2026 program includes major film and television panels, celebrity appearances, screenings and franchise showcases. The official NYCC schedule confirms the convention’s packed lineup.
Matthew Gray Gubler Returns to the Spotlight
One of the most anticipated appearances is Matthew Gray Gubler. The former Criminal Minds favorite is appearing at NYCC with Melissa Fumero and Tony Shalhoub to promote CBS’s upcoming series Einstein.
The appearance is particularly notable because Gubler has maintained a relatively low public profile. His return to a major fan convention gives longtime viewers an opportunity to see him discuss his next television role.
Nicolas Cage Leads the Los Angeles Lineup
The convention action continues on the West Coast. L.A. Comic Con runs October 30 through November 1 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, bringing another major group of entertainment stars directly to fans.
Nicolas Cage, Hayden Christensen, Aaron Paul, Bob Odenkirk, Giancarlo Esposito, Dean Norris, Krysten Ritter and Christopher Lloyd are among the featured entertainment guests announced for the event. L.A. Comic Con’s official guest list also highlights autograph and photo-op opportunities.
Why Actors Still Matter at Fan Conventions
Streaming has changed how audiences discover stars, but conventions offer something algorithms cannot provide: direct interaction. Fans can hear actors discuss characters, production stories and upcoming projects in a shared physical space.
That personal connection is a major reason conventions remain powerful. NYCC describes its celebrity programming as an opportunity for fans to see favorite actors and creators live, while its 2026 schedule includes major properties from Marvel, Star Trek, DC and more.
The Fan Convention Experience Is Evolving
Modern conventions have become entertainment ecosystems rather than simple comic-book gatherings. Panels now compete with premieres, celebrity photo opportunities, cosplay competitions, gaming experiences and exclusive franchise announcements.
With major events continuing through the fall, Comic-Con 2026 demonstrates how Hollywood and fandom increasingly meet in the same physical space. For fans, the biggest attraction may still be the simplest one: seeing a favorite actor face-to-face.
